A couple of months ago my Dell XPS M1330 died after four years of faithful service, and despite my best attempts with a screwdriver and soldering iron I’ve yet to manage a repair. While I still hold out hope that it can be fixed, it made much more sense for now to make use of the tax benefits of a one off larger purchase and replace it.

The Story of a Passport, an iPhone and an Unreachable Agency
Most of you will know that in a week we will be heading off with Charis Bible College to Sikkim, India. Many of you will also know that we have been having issues getting Carol approved for a Visa to allow her enter the country. Today we finally got confirmation that she has been approved and we await her passport being returned to us in tomorrow’s post.
Hello all, please buy me this. Thank you.
What is this new devilry?
This won’t be clever. But it might just work.
I’m not sure why it is, but I’ve always felt the need to sound funny or clever to write a blog post. The truth is, the fear of sounding the opposite has caused me to fear blogging in itself. It’s time to get over that fear.
After numerous failed attempts at restarting the blogging process on numerous platforms, I’ve resolved that my best bet at keeping things ticking over is to switch over to Posterous (you’re here). The simplicity of just emailing whatever you come across and automatically updating your blog, twitter, flickr, facebook and whatever else you choose is what makes Posterous so attractive. It’s not without it’s security concerns, as Dustin Curtis found out recently, but personally I don’t think I’m that popular that people would want to screw with me in that way.
Last week I downgraded my mobile phone contract while upgrading my phone to the new iPhone 4. It’s an absolutely beautiful piece of kit (which I’ll soon be covering up with an ugly rubber case for fear of shattering the glass) but I’ll not go into that here. What makes this relevant is that it makes it so simple to take a photo, add some text and email it over to my blog. This, in turn, will add the photo to my Flickr account, and update my Twitter account to let folks know I’ve posted a new photo. It’s the same for HD video, web links, youtube videos and plain text emails. If I can’t keep up with blogging on posterous, I’m just a lazy ass.
Of course, the ironic part of this all is that I’m posting my first blog update from the web interface on my desktop PC, not from my phone. But now you’re just being pedantic.
NB. I had imported all of the posts from my previous blog, but have decided to delete them. I’m thinking the emptyness of it all will encourage me to fill the pages up quickly.
